In the pictures you will be able to see Ilse's work in the Mayan community of Santa Maria de Jesus, on the way to the crater of Volcan de Agua. She continues working with the girls who were not able to start studying at an early age. Proximos Pasos is the name of the School, which means Next Steps.
You can have an idea by visiting http://www.missionimpact.com/ (video tour proximos pasos). This month, in her class of Physical Education, she has included choreographies with Christian music. They had had a lot of fun. The interesting part is that the girls (71 girls) are trying to adapt to the music rhythm, which is totally a new experience to them, and they have always wore (sp?) only tide or narrow long skirts in typical fabric, which doesn't allow them to take longer steps to do dancing or exercise but they seem to be enjoying it a lot!.
Ilse is also teaching handcrafts, Christian Education and some English, which is, another challenge, because the girls speak Cackchiquel Dialect, and they are learning Spanish to communicate, so English is like something from another planet! However, there are some clever girls, who are able to learn the two languages at the same time, and they are becoming "trilingual" anyway! So Ilse is learning a few words of their dialect to have better communication and one or 2 songs in the 3 languages for Jesus!
Last Saturday, Hugo and I were invited to share with the group of Parents at Proximos Pasos, and talk to them about discipline for their children with no aggression. We are being invited to a three churches to share with the Parents about education for their children. We are so thankful that God is opening those doors, because in Santa Maria de Jesus, for instance, we knew that some parents are treating their children extremely mean, like hanging them from their arms and hands for a punishment. These parents probably do that because of ignorance, other because of a generational curse, but anyway, they need to receive Orientation and counseling about that, and a lot of prayer, especially for healing in the girls. Also, we are preparing to go to another church August 10th, and we have to talk to about 40 teenagers who are... in Spanish we say: Ni chicha ni limonada. This means in English that they probably do not belong to gangs or are not very mean in the streets, but they are attending to church but never show good fruit.
We are attending or visiting Casa Bernabe Orphanage every other weekend with the group of Hebrew Dance. We are also preparing the group of Dance at Vida y Esperanza since April.
And, finally we want to tell you that in the Bible Study for the students who are trained for missions, last Friday (since we moved it to Friday) they are showing very good fruit, preparing projects to be a blessing in the community of Santa Lucia.
Last Friday, a girl who is always saying and demonstrating she hates everything that comes from God, everything that is pure and honest, this girl was there... she attended the Bible Study, and she did not talk much, but we are thankful to God that His word shall not return void and, at least, she is listening and demonstrating the great need in her heart.
The pictures where Dena and Noe had the Dance and Band performance, it was in the community of Santa Lucia, and around 400 hundred people attended the Cultural Night. They were able to share the message of the Gospel in the Dance. It was wonderful because many people approached within the next week and they said how much the message had touched their hearts. Praise God again!
In this opportunity, dear Friends, we also want to share with you that we are SO THANKFUL for your prayers and support.
God provided us the money to afford all the taxes of the new car! He is more than faithful and all we can do daily, is to continue loving Him, loving Him with all our heart and mind and soul and strength...!
We will continue to keep in touch with you soon. May God bless you much more! Sincerely,
Hugo & Gilma Caballeros
